What is the restaurant inside a train station called

Although they are relatively rare these days in the United States, l believe that they were simply called ''station restaurants''. The most famous chain in the US was operated by the Harvey Company.

We here in the UK used to call it the Buffet - a place where you could get light refreshments.

Nowadays they have been taken over by private enterprise and have all sorts of names.

Only the bigger stations have restaurants. l remember back in the 1970s having a meal of spaghetti bolognaise at the Travellers' Fare (that is what they called it) at London (Waterloo) station. It cost 45p! (About $1) - a lot of money in those days.

Way back in the day around here they were called a beanery

now they are probably Mcdonalds or Subway
